Khata offering
is a millennium old tradition among Tibetans and other Himalayan Buddhist countries. Such a custom is still commonly used today among these communities.
A Khata is a white scarf inscribed with auspicious symbols. To present a Khata, it is first folded in half lengthwise; this represents the interdependence of each other. The open edge of the Khata faces the recipient; this represents the offering of one’s pure and open heart. Presenting a Khata is a form of greeting which expresses love, gratitude, respect, or any other good will a language could prescribe.
It is with the same expression of love and respect Jacqueline offers you her art, her goodwill, her Khata.
Wearable Art
“Each painting represents my appreciation of a zen concept such as ‘Compassion’ or ‘Karma’. Wearing an artwork around one’s body brings a more thorough appreciation of the serenity it represents…”
